I'm going out to SLC in the near future to hang out, see if I want to live there, find an innocent Mormon boy and corrupt him and I was wondering what you Utah experts could recommend for climbing in the area. I get only 4 days so I need to say near SLC if that's possible.

if you can spare a little extra time, go to maple canyon about an hour south of provo. it is super fun and the routes in general are short so you can get a lot of climbing in. i was there for only a day and and did 11 pitches.

How near in the future are you going? Because right now there is a ton of snow! If you wait until spring, Little Cotton Wood has ton of cool problems. If you want a bit of a drive, I highly reccomend Joes Valley, but that is if you have the time. LC will definitely occupy you!

There are even stricter drinking laws in Utah than in Ky on Sunday. You would be well advised to consider this before moving there. Plus all Mormans(that I have met) are freekin' nutzo!!!

I'm not going until April, but I like to plan ahead when I get excited about something!

Dirt, I can deal without drinking.

Actually a more on the topic point, my family is wanting to go to Utah this summer, we thought Moab, Canyonlands area but my wife thinks flying into Vegas will be cheaper than SLC, based on that entry it looks like Zion and that area might be the region we should focus on, vacations are so stressfull, I'll be happy to get it over with and get back to work, or killing time on this crazy board. Where abouts are you heading? Is that why you chose SLC?

I'm flying into Vegas in March, climbing in Red Rocks and then heading to Joe's Valley for some bouldering, and then hopefully to either Indian Creek or Castle Valley. This past Oct I flew into Grand Junction, CO - very pricey - and climbed in IC and Castle Valley. Vegas is a helluva lot cheaper than Grand Junction and SLC as well, and still pretty convenient, Crankmas. If you aren't going on a climbing trip, then definitely hit up Arches and Canyonlands for the sight seeing.

Zion is the one place I haven't been out there that I really need to plan to see... but not this time.

Meadows, there are a bunch of climbers on that utah climbers site who will show you around. Definitely post up over there. Shaft said he would keep an eye out for your questions.
