What do you all think about climbing on buildings and other structures?
There is a faux natural rock formation empty fountain thingy in a little park near me that I like to hang on and sort of crab back and forth across the faces. There are a lot of sandstone walls here in Louisville (like the old train bridge) and I can get on the outside walls of my brick house. I don't recommend the latter because occasionally a brick is loose. But what about some of the wellkempt brick buildings? Put a top rope off a balcony or fire escape. During the daytime most of the big, old houses around 4th ST are empty.

Also I think I climb better when I'm working a job with lots of ladder climbing or scaffolding.

massonary bricks suck, they tear up your shoes. I like the new overpass structures, the blocks that hold them together form natural finger cracks of varied sizes.

I like going outside and looking at the mist as it rises off of the valley floor. Sometimes it can even be considered foggy. Then I shoulder my pack for another day of exploration. Whether I am climbing, cutting wood or if I am hiking/exploring.
There is always time to admire the rock formations and walls around me.....such is life in the Red. 8)

There's an old building down town with big double doors. Sometimes late at night when I am driving by, the double doors are swung open wide. There is but one huge room with a lofty ceiling. Running up the middle of the back wall is a large curving crack. I always think of Jesse..............

climbing buildings is much easier than climbing real rock...I must admit that in Boulder you will get in trouble...Nashville has some awesome stones...real I might ad
and the applebee's that's right around the corner from CTOBA...it's in an industrial park...the building across the street is kick a**...bc there are lots of vans in the back with ladders...

I really want to climb the standstone on the back of the new Red stadium. They are still working on the rest of the SW corner, which is a big wall also, but I think its going to be just concrete with dovetail joints in it. anyone up for being my spotter (of cops)?

eku has some cool structures to climb. on of the hardest climbs of my life is the chimney on my house. 1/4" brick for the feet and pulling on the sides of the chimney for your hands. very powerful and delicate at the same time.
