is anybody else a lead bitch? i see a bunch of people top rope everything. i lead pretty much everything i climb, sport or trad. who else does this? i think it's better for you, in most cases, to lead every climb.

Yeah, but one of these days Loren's gonna get off his ass and lead his own hard cracks. In the meantime, it's fun watching him flail on toprope!

cool. i think leading is more satisfying, you learn more, and as long you can place gear or clip bolts, i think it's easier than back leading or cleaning a climb.

Hey Aaron,
you make a good point, but this topic has already been beaten into the ground. Check out the thread titled "Pull the rope". It has a poll and everything and is about....1000 pages long....ok maybe not that long, but it's a really good discussion.

Yasmeen, thanks for mocking me because of my shaky lead head. I think it really helps to put the confidence right where I need it.

I love it when I'm in the middle of a sick hard 8+ hand crack, nearly pissing my pants because I'm three feet run out from my last piece and the only thought going through my head is "You know that Yasmeen is going to criticize you in front of God and everybody if you bail". And I can hear you in the background right now saying things like, "quit being such a pussy Loren." and my personal favorite, "You'd better not fall loren because I'm definitely dropping your ass if you blow this move. Even my 88-year-old grandma could make that move and she's a quadriplegic. I can't believe that you are such a big pussy!"

Anyway, just because not everyone has huge brass balls like you and aaron doesn't necessarily mean that we are worse people. Like Arno, I don't attach my sense of self-worth to whether or not I lead or TR a route. In fact, from now on, I am done leading. I'll just TR every route I get on, take when I'm tired, clip into gear and have you send up water when I'm thirsty, and then have you lower me off when I'm done so that you can go up and clean the anchors yourself. Thank you for helping me free myself from my ferocious ego.

I thought you liked it when I said those things... you should have told me those were not tears of joy and gratitude streaming down your cheeks everytime I lowered you...
