my other post got me thinking, are any of you all dirtbags? most people at miguels drink name brand alcohol, drive nice cars, eat good food, and seem to be normal people on the weekdays. i feel like the only dirtbag in the red!

Why don't we have an option for no? I would think that would be the majority of people on this site.

I wouldn't call myself a dirtbag, more of a weekend warrior. I just could never find the way to be a dirtbag. I have too much going on!
Just genuinely disengenuous.

i'm cool with eating boxed noodles and ramen while on an extended roadtrip, but if i have to start dumpster diving for questionable food, then it's time to head home.

I have no problem eating and living on the cheap and not showering or shaving for days at a time, but if I'm buying alcohol for myself to drink I'm most certainly going to shell out a few extra bucks to get something good. Though my car is a twelve year old rusted out minivan...

I still come across as being normal most of the time, but I'd probably be worse if I had a job that allowed to me maintain any appearance that I wanted.

Hmmm...someone has been reading too many John Long books.
Is there some sort of pride in being dirty and having no money?

I started out when dirt-bagging was the thing. I have to admit, there is a little whimsical quality to living like that. I miss it.
I've had just about enough of this shit.

i think the pride lies in the simplicity of the lifestyle. though simple means in every respect. you can have nothing but still be more complex than a tax form. you could still ask the question, though, is there some pride in a simple lifestyle?

I'll take having a well rounded life over "dirt bagging" anyday. I love having other things to do, money to spend on concerts and movies, money for road trips, money to pay for a nice home and car, and the responsibility of being a viable memeber of society. I love to run, and the thought of not having new running shoes every season is not a pretty picture. I love Miguel's pizza, and I love having the cash to buy it whenever I want. And most importantly I love my job, friends, and girlfriend...money would be less significant without those attachments.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.

So drinking Colt45 instead of Pete's Wicked Ale makes one Ghandi?
