Did anyone else see the article about Scott Cory in USA Today yesterday? My roommate brought it to me like, "I guess he did a 'five-dot-one-two-A'? That's supposed to be pretty good, right?"

I like this quote from it: "Women often make better climbers because of their strength-to-weight ratio and their tendency to think their way out of spots that men try to muscle out of."

The article actually seemed pretty well-written, and there were references to Sharma and Chouinard, as well as some climber slang like "crag."

Uh, I thought men had better strength-to-weight ratio, which enable them to muscle their way out.

yes, i have no idea why people keep saying women "tend" to be better climbers. it is the guys putting up the hard, sick stuff.....men climb harder, on average, than ladies..it's not a slight, just the facts...

woman are weak, they will never compare to the men in the climbing world

Mind you, there are women out there who can match/out-climb guys if they figure out the technique, but I have to say Piggie boy is right. Allah, however, sounds like an idiot.

there are a few women who kick my ass on the wall, yet there are thousands of guys who can do it...sort of like the marathons I run...1,000 women, and 5,000 men finish ahead of me...

YUP YUP im an idiot, but i am stating a fact, woman just cant realize that they cant match it up with the men. Name One major accomplishment that a woman has dont in the climbing world other than lynn hill ascent of the nose.

well, allah, since lynn's ascent is unrepeated, what 7 years later, i'd say that is pretty bad ass...in fact, it comes close to being the greatest rock climbing achievement ever...

I know of a couple of girls that are under 14 yrs old that can kick my sorry ass climbing. Of course, I know tons of guys that can also.

Hey Mr. Pompous Piggie , I never said that there are many women compared to men that can kick your ass. I was saying that there are some special ones out there who climb just as hard, if not harder than many guys. What level is Beth Rodden climbing? Oh yeah, 5.14. Last time I saw her pic, she looked like a woman.

Allah, I'm not naming special accomplishments and comparing in that manner. Men in general can outclimb women, yes we know. The simple clause, "Women are weak," makes me think you missed the boat in brain evolution. We've proven our strengths in many areas.
