I am wondering if there is anyone interested in making a trip to Thailand in May!?! I am planning on going even if I don't have a partner from the US, but thought it would be fun to travel with a fellow RRG climber. The beaches are beautiful, the sport climbing is intense (sorry, no trad climbing), and I have heard the atmosphere is really fun. Here is one website to look at if you think you might be interested. 8)

If you get a group, I would love to go!

Why a group?... Just wondering. What might be your definition of group? 3 or more?

If I went, I'd shave my head, put on an orange robe and never come back

That's incredibly tempting... and I won't have anything to do then... how expensive will the trip be? Tickets and such?

Round trip to Bangkok (BKK) from Chicago (ORD) is $770, then round trip to from BKK to Krabi is $138. It is then a short (45 min), like $2 boat ride to the climbing/bungalows. I have been told this is the best way to get there.

lodging is really cheap too. no camping, but bungalows await us. you can get some for about $12-15/night. If you split that among people, it is really cheap.

Long trips like that are more fun in groups.

I was thinking of leaving around May 11 or so and returning June 1, or so. But I am flexible with dates.

True True, but this is the only time I can make it before I start a full time career next August, so I am kind of on a time table.
