Climbing at Torrent

Every time we go to Torrent we put a couple of dollars in the well.
I think it is cool that Mark and Kathy continue to let everyone use their land.
It is almost always crowded there, and I have seen many people walk right by without putting anything in the well.
Just wondering how many people give, and for those who don't, wondering why not?

I give. It's a cheap day of fun in my books. I wouldn't think of stiffing Miguel for camping, and I think Mark deserves the same respect.

Sometimes I don't put money in becuase I don't have any, but I always put in a five when I do to make up for it. Actually I am sure I given more than two dollars a visit if I added it up.

I heard the money is going towards an escalator. I have been throwing in $5-10 everytime I am there but still no escalator. I know there are a lot of climber out there who have been ignoring that well. Pay up! Climbing those stairs really pumps me out.

always go to Torrent with $2. It's the least I could do, besides I don't want that kid on the bike haunting me forever-- "I want my $2.00"

I always pay, even if I go up and all the routes I want to do are busy and I leave without climbing there. Mark is good to the climbing community and doing us a service by allowing us to climb. Pay up or climb elsewhere.

Legion,
There IS an escalator. It is right at the base of the stairs.
You sit on a plywood platform and pull on the rope.

Mark & Kathy are great supporters of the climbing community. I hear that Mark closes during the winter months so that he can further cater climbers with croissants and hot chocolate. You have to show up at 6am sharp, and the temperatures have to be below 28 for him to get out of bed... other than that, PAY UP!
Many thanks go to Mark and his entire family... and $2 per person is not going to hurt you in any way. It's really a super convenient place to climb.
