Planning a trip to Pico de Orizaba, Mexico in Feb. If anyone has attempted the summit, I would love whatever information and advice you have.

Are you looking for information specific to Orizaba or are you wanting high altitude experience?
For a little more money, you can head to Ecuador or Bolivia and attempt peaks over 20,000'. Time is always a factor though; 6 days for Orizaba and 11-15 days for Illmani (21,193'), Ancohuma (21,095'), or Chimborazo (20,703'). I do know a guy who lead a scout troop to the summit of Orizaba in 2000. I can try to track him down as a contact for you.

I'll run it by Jim W and John H. We talked about turning the trip in 9-10 days. However I'm open. I did get you PM and hope to see you this weekend. Right now we are researching Orizaba. Any information would be helpful. That said: there's no reason not to look at Illmani, Ancohuma, or Chimborazo.
