Way to not even place a directional... and I try to not place gear in suspect flakes...especially when they flare downwards. The good news is that bush broke his fall. That could've been ugly.

Notice how his belayer looks up at the camera and is laughing pretty hard. Evil.

And THAT'S why I want to learn gear placement from someone who knows how to place "bomber" gear, when I start leading Trad. I don't want stuff yanking out of the wall when I weight it from knee level. And if I was climbing with someone and they laughed like his friend did as I took a 20' fall backwards, I'd never talk to the person again, let alone climb with them. Laughing at a fall if you walk away is ok, once everything checks out, but, during and immediately after? Jeez...and people say I'M harsh.

Mistake #1 - No helmet.
Mistake #2 - No directional anchor (As already pointed out).
Where did that boy learn to climb?

I remember reading in a mountain biking bike once about people not wearing helmets: they needed to be comfortable with mom feeding them cream of wheat the rest of their cheesy lives. 8)
