Hello party people and the place to be! I have a trip that I am going on to the New River this weekend. I am a 5.9 sport climber and one of the guys that is comming out is around 5.7 to 5.8 sport as well. I was wondering if there are any good climbs out there for us and if they are in any of the guide books. (Going to buy it tonight
If I can find it.) And if there are some that are not in the guide books,...can someone fill me in on how I can find them? Your help would be great because I would like to make my first trip out there a good one. Thanks for your time
Justin

Summersville Lake, just east of the New has several shorter and in the difficulty range of routes you seek.

I'd second Summersville for what you are looking for. 5.7-5.9(sport) at the New is kinda like the Red. There are some, but they are spread out.
Summersville has the highest concentration in one general area.

Flight of the Gumby is a classic and worth the hike. I also second the Summersville option, though I think that alot of the moderate climbs in that area are sandbagged. Good stuff though.

Rocksport had a guide book on the New a while back.
I just called and they must have sold it cause they don't have it any longer.

The Upheavel 5.9 sport 100ft, Fool Effect 5.9 110ft 13bolts and Total Eclipse 5.8 are at Lower Endless wall. along with some good 10a s near by. Summersville lake has lots of moderates, but large crowds also. Get out early and you should have better luck. There are also two moderates 5.7 and 5.9 and the brain area of Beauty Mtn.

Summersville lake is cool, but pretty crowded on weekends. The Brain at Beauty Mountain has a few that you can do, also it tops out so you can drop a TR on several others.
