update from the RRGCC?

isn't it time that the RRGCC provides some information as to what is going on? A lot of people have worked very hard and/or donated their hard earned money for the Murray Property purchase. There really needs to be an update on how much was raised at the Auction at Roctoberfest - which was held 2 weeks ago - as well as on the progress of the land purchase and the progress on the resolution of these access problems (if there has been any).

I realize that addressing these problems which have arisen takes time. However, as a non-profit organization which is holding out its collective hand for money and support, I believe the RRGCC owes it to the climbing community to keep people somewhat informed. Please note that I am not suggesting the disclosure of details which would put the land purchase or resolution of the access issues at risk. (Perhaps I should make that my signature line..)

Thanks in advance for any news.

I agree with you Sandy. What is going on with all the gates at the Southern region? What would happen if I donated $ to this and we did not have any acess ever to the area? I think I would rather give my $ to Miguel now.

Sandy,

If you want a timely and official response to your inquiry, you need to make your post on the official RRGCC website.

after posting the exact same message, this is what I got over there:
The final tally for the Charity Route Auction was $10,330.

The rest of offical notification letters to the highest bidders are going out this week.

Shannon
I guess this means there is no progress on the Murray Purchase or access problems?

It seems clear to me that progress is being made... $10,330 was raised. You may want to check on www.thered.org as well, since that web site is solely dedicated to information about the Murray Property Purchase.

The access issues with the gates has already been addressed by Shannon on another thread, but I don't remember the title of it. You shouldn't have any trouble finding it though.... it was started by her in order to keep everyone informed.

kcrag, I did check thered.org and, at the time I made my original post, there was no update on the auction or any news about if/when the purchase will be completed (I don't know if there is now or not). As to the thread about the gates, in case it wasn't clear, I was asking for an update.

hopefully Team Safety made it home okay and Johnny is on the case. Here is Shannon's second reply to my questions on RRGCC.org:
We are still consulting with legal counsel. Our lead legal adviser, John Bronaugh, has been on vacation, out of the state for the past two weeks, starting October 12. He returns today. John will need to review events in his absence, and then consult with his client, the executive leadership of the RRGCC.

Due to the sensitive nature regarding the Murray property purchase and issues with Charmane it is not purdent to give anymore information on the subject than this at this time.

I hope everyone can appreciate that as a corporation with certain legal and financial responsibilitites, including protecting the interests of our donors and sponors, there is a certain level of discretion that must be maintained. This not to hide from the climbing community, rather to protect the RRGCC from any unfair disadvantage by having all of our information being made public when we know nothing of the other parties' actions. It is not in the RRGCC's, or our donors, best interest.

We will share what we can, when we can. Thanks for your understanding.

Shannon

Climbers need to lower their expectations on the speed of progress and try to gain some patience concerning RRGCC interactions with both private and public property owners. I speak from experience that negotiations between organized entities can take quite a bit of time. For example, I am currently involved in a property transaction where my partner and I, as small business owners, are selling a small property to a large corporation. Negotiations started in May and were finally settled in October. It was not uncommon for it to take two weeks or more to get a response from the corporation on any particular issue. Now the corporation is going through due diligence while our attorney prepares the required paperwork for closing. We are hoping for a closing before Thanksgiving. Transactions between organized entities simply take time, patience and reserve.
