some people think i'm addicted to coffee. personally i disagree, but i can't deny that i feel it makes me happier and perform better. does anyone else feel this way? i feel i climb a little better, can push it a little harder for a little longer with a cup of coffee. anyone else notice this?

Caffeine is so effective in sports that the Olympics actually banned it. I used to drink it before running, but I'd run often at 10 or 11pm and really needed a boost. It does make us more alert and it's a pain killer. In fact, if you get a headache, drink some java because it constricts blood vessels, unless the headache is a withdrawel symptom.
I don't think I've seen anyone more addicted to coffee than Spragwa. I bet she never gets tired.

I love coffee. I really love double shot espresso Lattes. I told my climbing buds that iwas going to start carrying a thermos of espresso to the crags and they laughed at me. Saturday, one of them carried 12 Red Bulls to Fortress. Whose laughing now? Hell I don't know? But I really have to watch my caffeine intake:
No more that 1cup at home in the AM 1 double latte on the way to work 1 at lunch and only one Red Bull at the gym. You see I am a controlled drinker. 8)

I go in waves, trying to lay off on the hot humid summer mornings. Some good tea is a pretty good caffine delivery drink that doesn't dehydrate me as much as coffee (FYI sik it doesn't flush the system like coffee does)
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

I do the coffee thing sometimes, but my caffeine dose of choice is a cold bawls in the morning and a red bull during the day or before a cardio workout. Best way to use the bull for climbing is after a couple warm up routes/problems. Seems to be more effective that way for me.
It is also makes advil or alieve more effective to take them with some caffeine.

I went cold turkey off coffee once and stayed off about a year. I slept sounder, and wasn't quite so wired. I had been drinking a lot of coffee before that though. Now I have one cup in the morning and it does me well. I do love my morning cup!
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.
