Agonizingly Close....

Post by pumpout2004 »

I know there are quite a few of us on here who lurk around and check the spray lists habitually. It can be downright obsessive. One piece of information we can't glean from the spray, however, is who came agonizingly close to sending...but failed. As the season draws to a close (maybe?) I would like to know some details from anyone who, from the dark shadows of utter demoralization, cares to share. From 5.9 to 5.14 lets hear how close you were...

I got agonizingly close with dave's mom last weekend. Unfortunately best conditions of the year. I'll have to try again next spring.

I was frustratingly close on several routes, but weather permitting, they are all going down by May:

Knuckle Sauce 12a - Botched the sloper at the top because I'm bad at climbing.
Wild Yet Tasty 12a - Completely because I'm bad at climbing. Fell at the top.
Enkidu 11c - This route is as hard as the two above because I'm bad at climbing. Fell at the top.
Ethics Police 11d - Went back for this route after the spring and fell at new place on the route which is always fun.
Witness The Citrus 11c - "This route isn't hard it's just pumpy..." Fell at the top because I still can't run vertical marathons.

Orange Juice. I went to Funk Rock and got agonizingly close to getting on it. But unfortunately every single person at the crag was in line for it. I probably would have done it though, so I ticked it in my book. And downgraded it.

I got agonizingly close to quitting climbing. But couldn't send. Maybe next season.

Got agonizingly close on Ro Shampo once again. At least my 2 training partners sent. I'll just bask in their glory until I get down there again. Sucks projecting routes from Michigan.
