Rebolt/Repair Question
I came across a set of Fixe anchors that have worn rap rings. The assembly is a stainless bolt, galvanized washer, and stainless hanger with worn rap ring. Is it acceptable to remove the bolt, replace the hanger and washer, and re-tighten the bolt as is? Or is it better to drill new holes for glue-ins?

Re: Rebolt/Repair Question
Should be fine to pull the hanger/ring and replace the hanger and re-install the bolt. Obviously it needs to tighten down well again. If it takes excessive force to get the bolt to loosen (weakening it) or if it won't tighten down I'd have plan B on hand to convert to glue ins.
Thx

Ian, would it be also best to add a quick link so it is easier to replace in the future?

Meh, I hate having 1/2 worn rap rings on routes. At best, leaves things messy. I added 1/2" quicklinks to Creature Feature for that reason and they were gone in a month. Another option is to cut them off with an angle grinder. Erik has one.
If you do replace the hanger you may need another washer. I have SS ones I'll get you.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try replacing the hangers & washers first but plan for glue-ins. Either way I'll add new chains & beefy quicklinks.
Re: Rebolt/Repair Question
Which route? My preference would be to grind off the rap rings and add quicklinks. No need to mess with the bolts if not necessary.

Slick and the 9mm at Drive By. Bolt #6 also needs replaced. I'm getting hardware from Ian this weekend and will get to it soon. The washer between the bolt and hanger is plated and rusting, wouldn't it be better to replace that with stainless to lengthen the life of the assembly (if possible)?

Re: Rebolt/Repair Question
The washer probably isn't too important to the strength of the assembly if a 3/8th hole hanger was used. It seems unlikely that the bolt is SS, did the markings indicate SS or just the lack of rust?

My bad, the bolt head says AJ not A2, not stainless.
