Local needing partner/mentor

Hello Everybody,

I'm looking for a climbing partner/mentor that I can sport climb with on a regular basis. I am a 22 YO, male, recent college graduate, and have lived in Beattyville the majority of my life; but the sad part is that I don't know of any other "true locals" that consistently climb. I had one lesson from torrent falls back in the fall, and plan on going back very soon to learn how to lead, and clean routes. I'm eager to learn, but I can't afford to pay a guide everyday to climb. I have all my own gear, and I'm fairly athletic, and will hopefully progress semi-quickly. My work schedule is pretty flexible, and I know my way around the area very well. I wouldn't want to be a nuisance or liability to anybody, I'm just trying to get my foot in the door. Even if I could just tag along to learn more about technique or other skills it would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm in almost the exact situation. While I may not be able to act as a mentor I am looking for a regular partner for the summer. If you're interested maybe we could learn together with some help from others.

Hey guys, I'm in the gorge climbing regularly (2-4 days/week during spring and fall) and wouldn't mind you meeting with my friends and I for some pointers. I'll be honest with you, I'm pretty selfish with my my climbing time and the cliffs I'm at usually aren't the most beginner friendly, but there is often an easier route or two nearby that would be good to for y'all even if it's not the best of that grade. I would have no problem watching you climb/belay/clean them and giving you feedback and pointers. You're also more than welcome to come hang out at the cliff with my friends and I while we climb and watch how we go about everything which I think is a great way to learn and pickup good habits.

I'm a 32 YO male, non-college graduate, and have climbed for 19 years. There are some folks on this site who can vouch for me (setting myself up) as well as Nicole at Torrent if you've dealt with her at all. I'm well versed in most styles of climbing, but am mostly interested in projecting sport routes currently (aka seeing what happens if I try the same climb about 100 times). I worked as a guide in the gorge for years for several different companies including Torrent Falls (ages ago!), True North, and Red River Outdoors. I'm honest (offensive) and direct (rude) but enjoy sharing (delivering my opinion as fact) what I've learned over the years. I live in Lexington now and days I'm in the gorge depends on my work schedule, but it seems like Mon and Thur will be my main climbing days this spring, but it really varies. I make it down in the evening after work a bit too after the time change.

As long as it's kinda witty and/or saves my life I'm cool with that
