Camping and climbing

As I've been getting more into trad and becoming more of a cranky old man (already a quarter century old!), I guess I'm less interested in hanging out with the hordes at Miguel's or LoA. Other than going to Lago Lindas, I have been toying with the idea of driving into the lower gorge (I know about the road closure) or the sky bridge area, parking, and hiking into some spot near the trail, setting up camp, and climbing for the weekend. For example, parking for Funk Rock, hiking off the path at some point and setting up camp, while maintaining a reasonable distance from FRC, and walking there to climb during the day.
My questions are, has anyone done this, have people had their cars bothered when parked overnight multiple days on 715 or 9/9B. Assuming I get the requisite NFS permits, anything else I should be concerned about? Other than funk rock, any crag that this would work for (parking is secluded and approach trail near enough to running water)?
Danke
