I know this is a odd question - but im from Norway, and dreaming about climbing at RRG.
But the only way - at the moment - for me to come and visit is in may , june and july. How is the climbing conditions at the mentioned times?
( 8a.nu reports that october is the best part of the year, whilst mentioned times is really bad?)
Anyone who has any experience climbing in the hot season?
Thank you
Possible to climb at RRG in may, june and july?

May is good, June and July can get pretty hot and humid but people definitely still climb. Depends on your tolerance to heat and humidity. This July was very mild but this is an exception not the rule.

What about early in the morning, is the climbing conditions better in the hot season?
For example on Kalmynos, in the summer season, its possible to get descent conditions early in the morning.
Thank you.

If you're going to climb here in the summer getting out early is key, but the humidity will often still be high in the morning.
May-June would be better than July unless we have a wet spring. Some years it can be very rainy around that time of year. This year wasn't bad, and usually there will be good climbing days mixed in with rainy days, but every few years we get a really wet spring that's just miserable.
Having said that I'd still say come May-June if you can't come during autumn.
If you can tolerate 40F degree temps then winters aren't too bad either.

I like July and august because the gorge is not crowded. I would rather deal with bugs and heat than mass crowds of college kids.

Thanks Asc, I'm planning a trip may 2015, can't go during autumn, because I'm still studying.
Mark - I kinda agree, but when its too hot - conditions really suck. And I want to send some routes while I'm there, so I gotta cope with the crowds.
If I'm lucky, the crowds are less when the routes pass 5.13?
Thanks

May and June are not bad. It is not the best conditions but will still be worth a trip. There is a big variety of climbing so that even if it is pretty hot or even raining you will still have things to climb. July and August are when the humidity begins to be to oppressive to really go out. 80%+ humidity and 30 c. People will still be out climbing though. Its good training weather... thats what they say anyway
