Dogs and Pets in General

To begin with I like dogs, I have several and have been fortunate to have had several wonderful canine companions over the years. I have asked that folks coming to Torrent not bring their dogs when they visit, while this may seem unfair listening to my barking mutts there is a reason. Prior to 2011 I allowed dogs once I got to know them but you can thank the Becker Law Office and the courts of Kentucky for the problems that you may have with access when you have a dog since then. In 2012 the courts ruled that a landlord/owner had a potential liability when a tenant’s dog was responsible for an injury (the tenant in this case not an attractive lawsuit candidate, the landlord much more so). Put simply if I, as a land owner, allow you and your dog onto my property then I become responsible for your dog’s behavior. I am willing to assume the liability for my animals but am unwilling to become liable for the behavior of animals that I do not know and may not be near when they misbehave, I am also unwilling to rely on the owner’s ability, willingness or honorable intentions to compensate any victim for injuries or shield me from a lawsuit. I am posting here as I have had to speak with one or more groups on a daily basis about this restriction and hope that word will spread … additionally leaving your dog in a parked vehicle is as bad as leaving a baby in a parked vehicle, it is wrong.

You're Welcome, Bob. Hope your dogs don't bite anyone! It'd be a shame to "lose" torrent to climbing! Oh wait...
