yes I can understand that. but what age do you get your license? here it is 16.
We have a ZERO tolerance program for anyone who has had their license for less than 4 years. See......if you have to blow in the breathalyzer, and you show ANY amount of alcohol...your license is taken.
However, the legal limit otherwise is 0.08.

You can get your full license at 16 in most (all?) states. I'm mostly familiar with the laws in Illinois. If you get caught drunk driving before you're 21 (similarly at any blood alchohol level) you lose your license until 21, as far as I know. (Of course, if your parents are rich or politically connected .....) The limit for adults is 0.08 in IL - I'd assume it's pretty close in KY. Given that it used to be legal to drive with an open beer in your hand in Texas, this may vary from state to state.
Part of this whole issue is that a lot of American kids aren't 'taught how to drink' at home. It's pretty rare for teenagers to be given a small glass of wine with dinner, for instance. (It would be totally illegal for a parent to give a kid some wine at a restaurant) It's a big thing where under 21 is "no! no! no!",then over 21 is "go! go! go!" And, of course, there's the whole binge drinking at college thing.
