Louisvillians - safe place to leave a vehicle?

Post by Guest »

Can anyone recommend an exit off of 64 East, east of the Gene Snyder, where it would be safe to rendezvous and leave a vehicle for a day or two? Rest areas are not an option.

Thanks.

At the climbing gym. Rocksport(?) Its off of plantside drive. J.R. used to leave his caddy there all the time and ride down with people. It's like a mile off of 265 and 64

The directions to Rocksport is:

I64 east to Blankenbaker Pkwy. Go south on Blankenbaker Pkwy to the 3rd stop light, which is Plantside Drive. Turn right onto Plantside Drive. Go through 1 stop sign and Rocksport is on the right at the top of the hill.

This is often a spot that we meet prior to heading down for the weekend.

Another spot is at the Kroger parking lot located on Shelbyville road. This is the next exit north on Gene Snyder from I64. They are open 24 hours and there is usually a steady traffic flow all night long.

thanks guys, but these exits are in the wrong direction. I'll be getting on I64 East from the Gene Snyder and meeting someone coming from Indiana. I want to avoid heading West or having my friend have to go out of his way. I am just drawing a blank on what is off of I64 east of the Gene Snyder. Anyone?

Hey Sandy,
Rocksport is VERY close to the Green Snooter Pkwy. It would probably be worth your time because all that's between Louisville and Lexington is.....well, nothing!
:D

I know where Rocksports is. To go to Rocksports and back during morning rush hour would add about 45 minutes my already 2 hour drive, and that would mean 45 minutes less climbing. I wonder if something in Middletown would be safe?

You could go one exit west from gene snyder, there is a bunch of shopping areas there, maybe a sams club and some hotels. I think it is Blankenbaker road.
