The Old Guard

Post by Ascentionist »

C'mon, pipe up. Who's still here from the old KY Wilderness days?

Jeff?
JB?
Ray (obviously)?

Discojett is on facebook all paddly-addly these days.

Steve and Jill are way out west pretending to be all hip.

I had a different name back then, but I can't remember which one. Might have been Big Country by then...

We should have a reunion tour sometime this fall. Heck, I might actually try and climb something!

Our first big get together was at Fortress. JB followed Odub up Snake wearing his conductor's cap. Dave C. styled the direct start to American Wall. Someone belayed on munter hitch or something and I ended up with a huge snarl of rope hanging off my harness. I think Jeff took a picture of the wad-o-rope.

It's been fourteen years. We've got to have some stuff to talk about. I can spray about my mountain biking exploits. JB has some nifty uniforms he could wear. Anyone know where that grill ended up?

I remember that one now. I led Rite of Passage. I was trying to break into 5.10 trad and it was one of my early .9s. The top scared the pants off me: sandy, not much gear, weird moves...and I topped it out so I could TR Cruising Lane. In retrospect, leading Cruising Lane would have been much less stressful.

Seems like we had a pretty good turn out for that one too.

I was pretty sure someone took the grill. It would be too rusted out to use at this point even if it were still there. Ever hear from Hugs?

I think that's significant.

Does anyone else see the correlation?

I'm going to recommend that if you've had a somewhat checkered posting past don't click on the link in your own profile to "most active topic."

It was 2005, but is it too late to apologize to Wes for being a jerk? It's funny how it really is a moot point now. Back then I would never have guessed Roadside would've been bought by climbers and then closed down.
