Belay

Post by Crankmas »

Any input out there for belay biners that work well with the GG2? Mine are all D shaped and catch on the body radius

or the screwlock version
I use the screwlock version and have been happy with it, it's really difficult to cross load. Only thing to be aware of is that you should add one step to the double check we of course all do before we begin belaying. Along with making sure your harness is double backed, the GriGri is loaded correctly, attached to your belay loop, and the gate is locked. With this biner you need to also make sure your belay loop is resting against the actual caribiner, NOT the "hook" inside the biner. If you forget to do this and your climber takes a high factor fall there is risk of the hook cutting your belay loop. Just something to be aware of and to add to your double check before every belay.
