I'm getting a cold.
I can feel it in my throat. So far I've been doing peach smoothies to get a lot of vitamin C, and I just stocked up on 100% orange juice, so I don't get a bunch of extra sugar. Any advice? I hate my weak immune system!

Realize that You can't die from it if youre halfway healthy. Try to isolate yourself from as many people as you can. Then cowboy-up and get on with life. I know lot's of people who get a slight sniffle and they become bedridden for a week. No fever, just a sniffle or sinus/allegys.

This is a most delicious remedy and it works:
Buy bagels, cream cheese, whole ripe tomatoes, and a couple garlic bulbs. Chop up about five large cloves of garlic (or as much as you can stand), mix with cream cheese, and spread on a toasted bagel. Top with slices of tomato. Eat this three times a day. You'll stink but you'll feel better quicker.
Keep in mind that too much raw garlic can burn your esophogus. That's why you eat it with bread, cheese, and a lot of tomato.
Feel better, girl...

Really good hot and sour soup from a good chinese place. Hotter is better. And if it is just a cold, then a really good hard workout with lots of sweating is good too. Be careful if you have a fever though.

Yeah, any kind of hot pepper will work. It will break up the congestion and promote circulation. Another good one is to take a washcloth and soak it in warm water and put it on your throat for about 15 minutes. Then take one soaked in cooler water and do the same thing. This will promote circulation and speed healing. For internal remedies, if you are looking for something with vitamin c and that will cut through the mucous, drop the OJ and pick up the 100% grapefruit juice. Gargling warm salt water helps sore throats as well. Twice a day for as long as you can stand it.

If you get a fever, don't try to sweat it out - you'll overheat. Take the C and other vitamins and just try to rest. Sleep is your best friend at this point.

Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. Your body can't get enough of it right now. Give it all it wants, plus lots of fluids. flush those nasty toxins out of your system.

Knock on wood, I haven't had a cold in over 2 years. As soon as you start feeling like you are coming down with something, pop a zinc tablet. It's just like a throat lozenge/cough drop. Use them for a day or two and there you go.
Prior to doing this, my colds came on like clock work.
