When you do want these on your rack? Multi-pitch hard trad? These little guys weigh in at 19.5g. Compare that to the petzl spirit at 49g... so you are looking at about 30g difference per biner. Say you are carrying a rack with about 20 biners... that is carrying almost 0.6 kg more. At what level does that matter? Knowing how quick I-Beam carabiners can wear, I would rather just try to get in a good dump in the morning.

Full size and only 33g with a hood to prevent snags and a wider spot where the rope rides. Are the Eldrids full size?

I swapped out my old black diamonds biners for these and the weight difference is huge. Perfect for multi-pitch trad. My gear no longer pulls my pants down. I also make alpine draws out of them with Mammut Crocodile Slings for one of the best alpine draws I have used.
