I'm always a little slow on ordering things.

Am I missing something. It says if I buy both (and I want both) it's $45 and I save $4.90. Then it says shipping is $10.99 unless I send it media mail (which, from what I've read does not sound like a good option - I don't want to end up with a brand new damaged guide book!). So by ordering I "save" $4.90 by spending $10.99 - which is a net loss of $6.09. Am I missing something? If they're selling them together for $49.90, shouldn't I just wait.

The cheapest option is to get the code to Ray's place and just pick them up yourself when they are out and about...

Josephine, you figured out our secret formula! Damn you. Please leave your math skills to teaching your students and not ruining my chances at finally getting the gold Escalade I've been dreaming of.

The "damaged" copies aren't really to much different from a "perfect" copy. Maybe a crease or a bent cover/pages. These "damages" happen the first time you take it to the crag anyways.
