Flying starts?

Post by AlexAndEr »

For this topic a flying start will be defined as when the climber starts the route by jumping to a higher hold with at least one foot on the ground and one hand on the wall.

It's sport climbing, not bouldering. Of course they're okay.

Even if that means that you are able to jump right past the crux.

What about for short people? Are you "cheating" if you can reach a higher hold and avoid a crux they have to do? (a la Belly of the Beast) But ultimately, why does it matter? Decide what is "kosher" for yourself and if you can live with it, then that is all that matters. If you are concerned about what others did, ask yourself why do you care?

I assume you are talking about bouldering. Check out the authority on this matter. http://www.b3bouldering.com/
You might have to do some digging but he has some well thought out ideas on climbing rules.
