Although these articles are dated they come from the same time frame.

Mike and Stacia stopped by last weekend with a great feature articles on Shannon in Rock and Ice. (I believe this is the right magazine, I was caught up in reading the article and failed to remember the publication.) Anyway: I found the article to be truthful and non-posturing. In the article Shannon speaks of her regrets regarding the closure of Pocket Wall.

For this reason, I thought you might find the above article interesting reading. See if you find any contrast between the first two articles.

Truenorth, exactly what is your point of re-hashing old news?

Screw the state park service and francis.The thing that will open pocket wall and all state parks to climbing is money.Pure and simple.Money.Climbers spending money at the shell station,the marathon,miguel's,and eating at the state park lodge.Staying in the hotels.The hostels.
This means letting proprietors of businesses know that you are rock climbers.Tell them that the State in all its wisdom is trying to close down climbing,thus taking hard earned money out of their pockets,yet again!Tell them(the business owners) they should complain to The State about how stopping climbing in the Red is affecting the ecomony and them.
That's the truth of the matter because beaurecrats follow the voting public and the voting public follows the money! To quote a celebrated philanderer "it's the economy,stupid!"
So the next time that you are filling up at the shell station,tell them you are a climber and that climbing is at risk and they need to do something about it!

I think I see your point, TN, this guy Wilson has no problem bulldozing for a nine hole golf course, but get uptight about the bolts. J.H. is right, it all comes down to money. Wilson wants to have his cake and eat it too.

White Haired Goldenrod Soup:
1 can chicken broth
1/4 c. chopped onion
2 tbsp. chopped parsley
1/4 c. chopped carrots
12 fresh sprigs of White Haired Goldenrod, minced fine
Put broth in medium saucepan, bring to boil. Add other ingredients, reduce to simmer. Simmer 10 minutes, serve hot.

I think it's pretty interesting that the Forest Service would bash climbers and then support creating golf courses. Golf courses are the most hated structures by environmentalists because of the amounts of chemical fertilizers, etc. that are used to maintain the unnatural state of the grasses. Hmmm. Hypocracy at its best.

Hey Kato, where's the meat? Pull a fresh chicken breast and put in there and it sounds pretty good.
