Heading to Joshua tree end of this month. Anyone have any good beta? I just ordered my guidebook so I have no idea what to expect.

If it's balls hot go to Tahquitz and Suicide nearby.... longer routes and better rock overall.

J-Tree is fun too. What kind of beta do you want? Most important is to go Hidden Valley CG on a Monday or Tuesday morning if you want to get a spot (unfortunately you have to pay now). Oh yeah, and take lots and lots of good drugs.

Better yet get some DXM and head up to Clark Mtn. Best sport crag in the U.S.

So much to do in j-tree, asking for beta is a bit open ended. Plenty of good trad and bouldering with a fair bit of sport too.

I found the moderate bouldering to be pretty stout, and there are some really nice high balls, so if you do that sort of thing make sure you have a nice pad. The trad isn't any harder than the red if I recall correctly, there may be some hard moves, but most of the routes are pretty short so endurance isn't as big of an issue.

Definitely stay at hidden valley campground if you can get a spot. Belaying 20 feet from your tent is pretty sweet.

i was looking into that place recently. looks awesome. I'd probably go there before J-tree, though I've never been to either.... seems to me that if I was gonna go all the way across the country, single-pitch and bouldering are the last things I'd want to do, anyway.

Thanks guys. I am looking for more Sport Routes below 5.11a. I will look into Hidden Valley campground I don't mind paying. I was just wanting to know of any climbs you recommend below 5.11a. I will also check out Tahquitz and Suicide. Keep the ideas coming.

The "sport climbing" (read: mostly runout slab) at JT is kind of so-so... it is really good for trad and bouldering. If you want good moderate sport climbing in the area go to Red Roxxx or Owen's River Gorge. Echo Cliffs in LA also pretty good
