Andrew, there is also an article that shows the smaller the length of your arm, the less force it takes to keep it locked. Think Carlo Traversi as an extreme example.

my normal weight is 175 and i use them. the problem there - in my experience - is discomfort. hanging once isn't bad, but 'training' definitely thrashes my tips. brah.

Where did you get the top ten list? 8a.au? Please list the ten climbers, if you got that info? Maybe you looked at the top ten girls...

So I climb like those top climbers with a 35 lb weight vest.

well a month ago i did a body analysis. my arms weigh about 6 lbs each and my legs weigh in at 19 lbs each. i'm currently 5'9 and 150. so if i cut off 1 leg and 1 arm, i should be the right weight - but the height is still wrong. maybe though i should cut off 1 leg and 1 ankle (which would get me to 5'6") and only chop off 1/2 of an arm. that should do it. then i can be the world's best climber

if i ever get down to 124, please make sure i'm in a hospital or a psych ward because something has gone terribly wrong! :-D

Andrew, you just confirmed two things for me.

1. I knew climbing would be easier if I were taller, thanks for confirming.
2. I need to lose some lbs. (probably wont work on this one at all since I love myself some cheesecake).

I thought climbing was easier if you are tall?

Climbing is easier if you are tall-- ONLY IF you are shorter than average.

Climbing is easier if you are short-- ONLY IF you are taller than average.

The farther you are away from the median into either direction, the more likely you are to feel the grade inconsistencies.
