rock castle seemed to be a hot spot to boulder two seasons ago....does anyone go anymore or has bluegrass bouldering put a nix on folks going outside when it is cold?

Talk to Kyle (kafish). I've seen a few images floating around of recent problems/sends and I think the Louisville strong guys have been making road trips.

people still go, just more quietly I think for fear of access issues. I just wish I had downloaded that online guide before it was taken down. ah, who am I kidding, I would just keep going to the Red anyway...
lots of amazing looking stuff on that laurel river lake in the area too, but you need a boat.

I have a copy. How much is it worth to you? I need money and will make color copies if the price is right... I lost the digital copy, but have a hard copy.

Re: Laurel Lake
Don't bother. Due to record breaking rainfall all the good stuff is under water. Typically everything will be underwater from around April to July, but this year is a different story. Hopefully the water will recede before spring rains and there will be some Laurel bouldering to be had this season, but I'm not optimistic. Probably will have to wait till next fall...

Still bouldering going on there. Just a lot more hush than before. I think the main reason for this... the backlash that trying to expose the climbing to the public brought on last time.
I did find out most of what was developed at that time was actually on FS land. I spoke with a ranger at main side during some controlled burning that told me most of the main areas were cool to climb on and that they did not much care if we were climbing on their land. That being said I am sure that if there were swarms of people going every weekend that would probably change. There are a few small places where access was not secured as well so climbing does seem to have stopped there.
I am not one of the major developers out there as I tend to spend more time climbing routes and just like to mooch of the real guys hiking but... As a somewhat outside observer it seems that while there are still areas being developed on access friendly land most people will not be privy to this info because of the backlash that happened when developers tried to be open and sharing before. Something about biting a hand that feeds you or something. Then again I could be wrong on the motives of the secrecy and am just taking a big guess here.
I do know there thends to be a lot more concern over access with the current developers and I know a lot of the new stuff I have seen is Kosher to share. Just find the people that are out developing it and they will probably be kind and show you but I wouldn't expect to see any big guides being posted for the masses.
