Missing route development gear

In almost eight years, this is the first occurrence of this type at Muir Valley. A significant amount of route development gear disappeared last Thursday, Friday, or Saturday (11-24 to 11-26) at a new route development area between the Hideout and the Indy Wall. This included a red/salmon colored rope hanging from two cordalettes, one long piece of red webbing, two sport draws and a locker. The rope ends had been tied together and the rope coiled into a white piece of canvas and then placed into a black rope bag that was placed on a shelf about 7 feet up the climb. Everything was found to be missing on Sunday. It would have been clear to experienced climbers that this was a route under development and not a case of booty left on a wall.

I'm guessing the person who removed this gear was either a gumby not versed in the ways of route development gear being left unattended for a period of time or a royal jerk. This area is not frequented by anyone but climbers.

A reward will be paid to anyone who can provide positive proof of the identity of the person or persons who removed this gear.

rick, this also happened when I was bolting "bucaneer" in Muir...some idiot, reached as high as he could and cut the rope..got away with maybe 50 feet of static. good thing it had been sitting in oil on your garage floor. once again, climbers are slime.

What a douche. I hope we find out who it was, and they are adequately power-bombed at Miggie's.
