So I have still been hiding in secret crags and by going South. For those who have braved the "normal" crags, how have the crowds been to start the Fall season? When I drive by Miggie's and see the parking lot I can only assume they are over burdened.

been relatively empty so far...tolerable densities even at popular crags. Total of 7 yesterday at Military.
Perhaps the climbing fad has begun to fade...or maybe the so-called "dirtbag" visitors' trust funds dried up with the sagging economy & they have to actually work for a living??

Been to The Solarium 3 times in the past 2 weeks and didn't see a soul. Midnight Surf and The Boneyard were also empty when I was there last week. 1 party of 2 at Fortress, and lots of people gangbanging the 9+ at Phantasia. Then I saw 180 people in Muir Valley on Saturday and nobody was climbing... just carrying rocks around and knocking down trees. So it's kinda weird right now I think.

It has been relatively low, but the weather hasn't been the best either.

I escaped the "crowds" Sunday morning with some turd-polishing of my own, then went to the Lode that afternoon and realized there was almost no one there except for some super nice Japanese women and Spanish dudes on their climbing trips. I personally always enjoy encountering international visitors at the crag.

The weather report wasn't that great, I think once you can be sure of cool dry temps the crowds will be back.

So, you mean like this week end... oh well, climb early with numb fingers for a bit.

exactly, if this weekend isn't busy, then climbing as a fad has faded.

speaking of which, someone will have to thank Laura Snider for leaving us out of this article. We dodged the bullett.
