Visiting from the UK in September

Hi,

I will in visiting the US from the UK and would love to get lots of climbing done at the gorge. I'll be there in the second half of September, I'll only have boot, harness, belay and chalk bag, no other kit (I need to travel light). If anyone fancies hooking up, let me know.

Also, would be good to know where are the best places to stay, maybe a cheap motel or a campsite, I can always buy a tent if I'm stopping for a few weeks.

Cheers,

Mat.

Easy to find partners at Miguel's, or send a message when you're departing UK. And I would bring 2 boots with you on the trip.... plus a set of spurs, & maybe some chaps.

Miguel's rents out a couple rooms above the bathrooms, I think they're around $40/night. You should be able to meet people there although you might need to bribe them with beer and pizza to compensate them for the use of their rope and gear unless you can really turn on that british charm

Thanks for all the replies (really!!!), I have been thinking again and I will definitely bring both boots now, no need to travel that light. :) Miguel's sounds like the place to be, I will try the charm, but suspect I'll be buying the food & drinks. :)

@Feanor007...I'm living in Cononley near Skipton, but currently in France, climbing. I've only got a week back the UK before I hit the states. If the climbing's as good as the Verdon Gorge and the Alps, it will be some trip!!!

Depending on how early you get here, I may be able climb with you. I'm free to climb any days up until the 21st. I'll have all the gear we'll need. Except your boots :)

@spikeddem sounds great, I leave New York on 16th, so need to check the drive times, the US is such a big country. I managed to drive 15 hours in one day to get from Rodellar in Spain to Chamonix in France because I had guaranteed climbing, so I will be there hopefully for at least few days before the 21st. :)

You might want to give us a look at Land of the Arches Campground. We offer indoor camping ( ya all you need is a pad and a bag) for 5.00 per night that includes the use of showers, outdoor kitchen and wi-fi. We are a climber friendly camp with climbers here all the time. Being only three miles from Muir Valley look us up @ land of the Arches .com or on face book.
