Mountaintop removal at the New, WV

Post by toad857 »

Thought I would pass this on: The NRG folks are trying to raise awareness about mountaintop removal in their region. From my perspective, it is a very unwise & unnecessary practice, but receives almost no attention. Just how the big companies like it.
Hey Rendezvous Participant,

As many of you learned at the Rendezvous this year, mountaintop
removal coal mining has come to Fayette County. New River Alliance of
Climbers has joined the battle to prevent this environmentally
disastrous practice from degrading the playground that we love so much
and value so highly. A group of committed and experienced activists
are leading our charge. We have a court hearing coming up. Please
help us demonstrate to the powers that be that we will not accept this
practice.

GOAL: Assemble 500 people to participate in a vigorous and positive
assertion of our rights as citizens. STAND UP AND BE HEARD! CALL TO ACTION!!

It really makes me sick how much our local governments are in bed with the coal industry. Its a damn shame
How you compare may not be as important as to whom you are compared
