Was at bruise bros wall todAy and was on the rising. LiterAlly 5 minutes after I cleaned the route
A tree fell from the top of the cliff line exactly where my belAyer was.
Large branches are still hanging above so watch out. No other groups were
At the crag at the time so no one else was aware. Also a smaller pine
Is hanging on right above the anchors of rat stew. Be tree aware as well
As bear aware.

I am sorry that you and/or your belayer had a close call. It was nice of you to warn people on this forum, but many people at risk would not see your warning here. In the future please notify us so that we can put a warning sign in the area and remedy the situation as soon as possible.

As a reminder to you and to other visitors to Muir Valley - by signing the release to be able to climb at Muir, you agreed to follow the posted rules, one of which is:
“If I am involved in an accident involving injury or observe any unusual hazard during my visit to Muir Valley, I agree to bring such accident or hazard to the attention of Muir Valley, LLC immediately by contacting Rick Weber at richardhwebeer@gmail.com or 317 291-0354 or 606 668-9066.

Posting on a public forum in not an effective way of notifying us of an urgent situation. We frequently do not read this forum.

Above “Rising” at the BruiseBrothers Wall, there remains a large limb (300 lbs) tenuously hanging 60 feet overhead. Please stay away from this area until we can remove it – hopefully today.

As a caution to climbers throughout the Red, unusually heavy rains this spring loosened many rocks and trees at the top of clifflines. All climbers should be especially aware of the risk falling objects from above.

I have heard of two other, separate incidences, at BB wall with large branches or trees coming off the top. Both of them were in the same area, one from the top of little V, and other one was from the top of jungle trundler (is that why it got that name?).

Just a heads up. Be careful what you are at BB wall or any other wall in the red. GRAVITY HAPPENS!

Thanks, Dustonian. Rick and another guy are working on it right now. I think they should be able to get the limb and pine tree down today. But the tree that fell is huge. I'm sure Rick will still be working on getting it out of the way tomorrow, if you are still available.

Climbs on Bruise Brothers wall are again open to climbing. Rick, with help from three volunteers, got both the large limb that was hung up 60' over Rising and the pine tree hanging over Rat Stew down. Thanks to Cliffton, Brad, and Brian, who worked in the rain to help get these hazards removed.
