Not sure why this past weekend was so busy in the Red. Obviously, climbing is growing significantly in this area.
Weekend Stats at Muir
Friday: 50 cars
Saturday: 111 cars (a record)
Sunday: 56 cars (13 from Ontario)
Number of climbers at Muir Fri, Sat, Sun: 722
Lost items: numerous
Number of dogs sneaked in by their owners: 4
End-of-the-world events: 0
Climbers are learning to spread out here to climbs other than Bruise Brothers Wall, so the crowding wasn't so bad.
And a bad time for our restrooms to go down. We'll do everything reasonably possible to have them up and running with a new water source by next (Memorial Day) weekend. But, no promises. Like Mom said, "go before you leave home."

Wow, really? What do you do when you come across them, out of curiosity?
I can't believe that people would do this... wait, actually, yes, I can.

usually the same people who have unruly dogs.
I think Bruise Bros has a bad enough rap about crowds that will be become reasonable.

Based on the total number of climbers, there should have been at least $7,220 in the donation box. I'm assuming said amount will make a dent in the cost to repair the bathrooms??
Re: Past weekend at Muir
A year or so ago there was a group that tried to bring their dog into Muir. The owners could not understand that it was an access issue there are no dogs allowed. If you want to bring your dog, climb elsewhere. I think I got the point across to the utter mortification of my climbing partners.
Re: Past weekend at Muir
I have a dog pass at Muir, and even I no longer bring my pooches to Muir out of respect for the Weber's.

I was not mortified at your response Art it was the other parties insistence that they would just leave the dog in there car in front of the Webers house!

I don't think the ladies appreciated the confrontation. So where are you guys from? . . .JeffCastro wrote:I was not mortified at your response Art it was the other parties insistence that they would just leave the dog in there car in front of the Webers house!
Arizona. I think quite often it is out of town gumbies that don't bother do any research before they climb. They were clueless about the rules. Makes me wonder how well I read before I go anywhere . . .
Re: Past weekend at Muir
You seriously donate $10 each and every time you go climbing? If so, awesome! I would hope for the Weber's that the amount came out to just $1 per person per trip although it is certainly worth much more.Dorchaidhe wrote:Based on the total number of climbers, there should have been at least $7,220 in the donation box. Also, although I often drop a buck or more in change in the box when I walk into Muir just so I hope others hear and see (and catch on) I prefer to donate online once per year. Not everyone donates using those boxes.
efil lanrete... i enjoy the sound, but in truth i find this seductively backward idea to be quite frightening
Re: Past weekend at Muir
dude..who are we kidding..my guess is there wasn't $15 in that box.
