Grew up on 4-wheelers, barely graduated high school because of them. But there is a time and place for them and the PMRP is definitely not that place.
Saw plenty of tracks going to What about Bob side and the Sore Heel shortcut. If you see folks riding them on the trails and to the crag step up and say something, they are damaging YOUR land. The trails we have are already hard enough to maintain and a lot already need substantial rerouting, 4-wheelers just make it worse.
Thanks

Re: 4-wheelers in the PMRP
I was gonna start bringing mine so I didn't have to walk to the crag. Damn.
Re: 4-wheelers in the PMRP
please do not do that. please.
if anyone is a sign builder can we request a couple that post no off road vehicles allowed. we are a human powered recreation area.
i dont think its climbers on the 4-wheelers but maybe im wrong, lord i hope im not wrong. if it is climbers.....we aint got far to walk to get to ANY crag on the pmrp, if you cant handle the walk to the crags on the PMRP, you really may need to think about picking another sport. im a cripple and can still get to everyone of them with a pack on. when i do get tired of walking, i like to build with wood, like to play horseshows with the blue hairs and bingo is also on wend in town. if you cant handle the walks then maybe we should hang out, i have extra depends in my pack and could use your senior discount for mcd's coffee.
joking aside and as always, if you see folks doing this, step up and ask why and tell them that we do not want 4-wheelers on the trails or access roads. we are battling the old trails every year and are working on getting them rerouted and sustainable. but until then every foot step and tire track makes them deeper, builds higher shoulders for water to trap and in the end makes access to YOUR crag harder as well as the fixes that must be done to fix the problem later.
it also starts creating habits for the other users of the area. if you stop one local guy riding hes gonna tell his boys and most of them will accept it and ride where they are allowed or at least not hassled. but if they see other people at the area they are riding and no one says anything hes gonna tell his boys about the steep jumps, girls in bikinis and all the cars to break in as you please and they all will come.
call me dumb, call me crazy but i have seen the , "if you build it they will come" happen in many many sports and what i said above WILL happen if we dont step in now.
its as a lot of times, respect the land and use it for what its meant to be used for. i love ridng, but not on the pmrp.

Re: 4-wheelers in the PMRP
sounds fucked up. hope it doesn't continue. 4-wheelers trash the land--and it doesn't just 'go back' to the way it was.

i was just kidding... probably could've made that clearer.
Re: 4-wheelers in the PMRP
What if they have lots of automatic looking weapons and camo?
How you compare may not be as important as to whom you are compared
Re: 4-wheelers in the PMRP
My favorite PMRP 4-wheeler story....
Me, Andrew, Mike (Andrews dad) and I think both of our sons were going the back way from Solar to PMRP. Mostly we were going that way so the boys could enjoy driving through the creek(s).
On the way down the road, just past the second set of giant doberman's, there were two young kids on 4 wheelers. They pulled off to the side and waved to us to drive on through. As we pass by they have shotguns stuck between their legs resting on the handlebars. Further up the road we pass their "camp" where maw and paw are still hanging out breaking down their setup. They have their sleeping bags draped over the fence that surrounded one of the oil pumps. Next to the pump was a giant roaring camp fire. I don't really know how combustible that whole scenario was, but we made sure to move out quickly!

Re: 4-wheelers in the PMRP
Yeah, my mistake.
Umm... I'll let you stick your hand over the fence. I'll stand back with a stick to try to poke its eye out to get it to let go.
