Guidebook app for Android/Blackberry

I have not seen or heard any updates as to the possibility of a guidebook app for these other platforms for almost a year. Does anyone know anything? Some people are not cool enough to own an iphone.

Considering that it'd be a near rewrite, it's not terribly profitable, and Android tends to have less paying users, I'd say it's unlikely (assuming you're talking about the Wolverine app)

It is weird that the platform porting would take so long. Perhaps Android just is not a big enough market.

If you are writing native code for each platform...it's basically a rewrite. One is Objective-C, one is a flavor of Java. No direct code reuse. Plus, the app is essentially a labor of love, not a big money maker.

Thanks, yes I am ignorant about this and many other things. Once you have the basic program in droid are we not just talking about fishing through a database? Couldn't one sell the shell to someone who wanted to put together a guidebook for area X?

Yes, that is basically the case. Which is why they've produced Rumney, New, and Bishop guides for iOS really quickly. But AlpineWerx hasn't done any work on Android, and I don't think they have immediate plans to do so.
However, if you want to hire me, I'd be glad to get started
