I'm considering making the long trek to The Red from Salt Lake in April but I'm having a hard time convincing partners to come with me. I know I can troll for partners at Miguel's but I figure if I find people on here first I'll be more likely to make the trip actually happen weather I have to go solo or not. Climbing days would be something like April 8th - 18th. Anyone planning on being down those days? Looking for a partner? I'm solid on .11's, have sent some twelves but have yet to flash one although I have come close. I can project .12+ but it takes some serious effort to send anything above .12b. I'd really like to get to Military and Left Flank as they were closed last fall when I was out there due to the fire (was told I HAVE to get on Mercy the Huff next time I'm out there). Also really want to check out Midnight Surf as we missed it on my last trip as well. I one hung Twinkie on my second go last trip and would like another shot at sending it. I give good belays and have never dropped anyone. LMK if you are interested in hooking up.
Eric.
Partners April 8th - 18th 'ish
Re: Partners April 8th - 18th 'ish
I guarantee that you won't have a problem finding partners if you just head down here. The weekends have already been getting pretty busy, and I'm sure March will be feeling the effects of various Spring Breaks from around the country. It would definitely be a pretty long drive for you, so I understand your skepticism. I live in Lexington, and I'll be around and available to climb the entire time you're here. Send me a PM if you end up needing a partner.
EDIT: I just realized that I actually will not be here from the 12th-19th. I'll be here at least for the first few days of your trip, if you decide to come...

Thanks for the offers etc... I opted to save my $$ and stick around here but I am planning on coming out to the Red for a month in October and will probably be looking for partners again then.

Hi Eric,
In case the pm did not work (it won't leave my outbox)
I am in the same boat as you. You might have seen the link below.....

Anyway, I have been speaking with Andy, and it looks like we will be hooking up for a few weeks in April right around the same time. Ideally you could make it there by the 4th which is when I am scheduled to go, and maybe stay a week or so on if possible- esp. considering your trek. Normally, I frown on the whole party of three gig since I almost only into onsighting as many routes possible. This trip however Andy and I are looking to project some of the classics in the 13a/b range so I think a more balanced pace would work really well. This is mainly due to the fact that this will be my fourth trip to the red and I really want to get spanked on some of the ultra classic lines. Obviously we would need to get a green light from Andy, but given his correspondence he seems pretty cool.
