It looks like the belayer had way too much slack out, but whats comical is he tried to cover it up by saying the climber was "heavier than he thought" as if he had over compensated on a soft catch when in reality he never even left the ground. Also notice the bad short change at the third bolt and the belayers break hand positioning at the end of the film. It worries me how prevalent these ignorant people are becoming...

Busted... I am the guy belaying. I was just giving good ol' Darren penalty slack for not trying to make the next move. Wanna hook up and climb some when the weather breaks?pigsteak wrote:alright fess up core..those are your buds, and you are filming...

The Daren's friend is cleverly using "law eight"....I don't know why people sometimes forget it. To catch your friends law eight. Always stand eight feet from the base, eight feet of slack and always, always apply pressure to your break hand when the falling climber is eight feet from the ground. Law eight belaying IS dangerous, but is totally fun until it isn't. Up TOP DAREN!!!! You've been belayed law eight!!!

He was risking a nasty butt floss most of the way up.

Someone in the background was putting some effort into AWOL.
Is it really projecting when you are searching for every hold on a 5.11?
