For those who do not know there is a 200 mile team relay event that starts in bourbon country and finished in downtown Lex. 12 people per team starting on Friday October 7, 2011 and finishing on October 8, 2011. With 12 team members each person runs three legs, none are shorter than 3.5 or longer than 8.1. I know several people who participated in the event this year and all report having a good, if tiring, time.
So I wanted to gauge interest amongst Lex climbers about forming a "Climbers who run" Chase team. Unfortunately, it is not a cheap event. $100/member, food and vans not included. But, the deposit is $400 per team. So that is something like $30 per person for the deposit.
I think we would need 14 people as inevitably someone will have to back out.

I'd be in. I'm not fast, by any means, though. Distances I can keep a 10min/mi pace.
Sure is a lot of fun while you're doing it...
Re: 2011 Bourbon Chase
Speed is not a requisite. Just enough people to get together a team and have a good time. Can't believe that neither BB nor piggy has even commented.

Re: 2011 Bourbon Chase
So the minimum would be three runs of 3.5+, right? So I'd be running more than 10.5 miles? Any idea what kind or recovery time in between legs?

Re: 2011 Bourbon Chase
I am definitely in. I am sure we could convince Kipp and Brad as well. Meadows? Maybe Maslyar will be healed up by then. I'll put a sheet up at the gym. There are several good runners.
The theory of evolution is just as stupid as the theories of gravity and electromagnetism.
Re: 2011 Bourbon Chase
I found the different legs and what's required of each runner. The recovery time would vary from runner to runner, but it seems fair to assume there would be a good 7hr+ rest in between legs.

Re: 2011 Bourbon Chase
Time is more of an issue for me, would an individual runner be allowed to run all of their section consecutively?
