Winter Trail Day? Would you be in?

Post by DriskellHR »

So I like it rough and was considering a winter trail day. I get some feedback that suggests that no one will want to be out there in the cold working. My thought is that in the winter the foliage is gone which might make life easier. Although if the ground is frozen it would suck. If we have the winter that is forcasted well....

At anyrate what do you think? I was going to try and spread the love to another crag. (done 2 at roadside, i plan on doing more at RS but want to throw resources another direction for a bit. The next roadside day will have to be massive so I want to do this in the spring.)

Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Just curious if there are ever trail days at crags in the DBNF anymore? I've been to Long Wall and Wall of Denial recently and both trails can use some love.

The Capt can explain this better. He is the point man on this I may get some of the details wrong.

I'd be up for trail day in the winter, mountain bike or otherwise. I mean, it's Kentucky, how cold can it get?

Trail maintenance on Forest Service land can only be done on existing approved system trails, i.e. Military, Left Flank, Pebble Beach at this time. The root ball in the middle Military Wall trail caused by the ice storm needs to be removed to restore the trail to its original location. That would be a good winter trail project.
