A very big THANK YOU from Liz and me to the huge group of volunteers (140 Saturday plus 17 from Calvin College who did preliminary work = 157) who descended upon Muir to fix up and beautify the Valley. A new, long world-class trail was built, passing through a 15-foot rock arch, to an entirely new climbing area with a bunch of great new moderates. The concrete bridge was relocated, one wood bridge was built, a wood staircase constructed, two large culverts rebuilt, including concrete and masonry abutments, trails rebuilt, trails weeded, trees removed, route I.D. disks installed, six emergency communication stations built and installed, and most importantly, the emergency road was completely restored so that a big-box ambulance can comfortably access all parts of the Valley.
All draws have now been removed from the overhanging routes, and many have been replaced with Permadraws. This work will continue into the future.
Good food, great friends, lots of work, lots of fun, perfect weather.
Help from others in the area is also hugely appreciated: Gloria at True North Inn for providing the noonday meal, Miguels and Rockquest for schwag, Eric Cox and David Terrill for camping passes, and a couple officers from the RRGCC who provided friendly-neighbor help.

What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.
