Best RRG guidebook / late Nov temps?

What’s the best (sport) / newest Red River Gorge guidebook currently in print? I assume Red River Gorge Rock Climbs, 3rd edition? Also what kind of temperatures can I expect in the gorge in late November? Thanks.

Late Nov can get very cold if you are camping. I had some frigid nights in my car with a warm bag. The days can be pretty spectacular and the crowds die down once Miguel's closes!

How cold is cold? What are the adverage high and low temps? Whats the nearest town to the RRG?

In Red Rocks its as much as 20 degrees warmer in Las Vegas than in the canyon. So weather.com says its 50 but its actually 30 where your climbing. Its generally colder in gorges than in the cities that lie outside the gouge. That may not be the case with the RRG, but thats why I am asking.

the weather pretty much stays the same as the local weather predicts. late november can get pretty cold but not unbearable and you should be missing the fall crowds that way too. have fun and stay safe!

The red river gorge isn't really a "gorge" like you may be thinking. it's more like a series of rolling, steep hills with cliffs sticking out at the top. it was probably more canyon-y at one point, but this is appalchia we're talking about here. and the cities that the weather reports come from actually lie in the gorge itself, so they're pretty accurate. There might be some temp flux when you get down in the hollers where the sun don't shine, but it's nothing major.

get a cabin. red river outdoors (redriveroutdoors.com) has the best

last year i had friends come in from out of town over thanksgiving. it snowed the week before they came. was beautiful for the 4 days they were here and then snowed again. it got awfully cold at night and we were so glad we got a cabin.
