The Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team (WCSART) is looking for a few good men and women to join us in conducting search and rescue operations within the county. Climbing locations in Wolfe include: Muir Valley, Roadside, Torrent Falls, Lady Slipper, Emerald City, and the Zoo. We also respond to incidents in the Daniel Boone National Forest involving climbers, rappellers, campers, hikers...

We need volunteers comfortable in high-angle environments – i.e. rock climbers – who spend a lot of time in this area. Locals are ideal. Most of the call-outs are on weekends, so week-end warrior climbers to this area are welcome.

Ky Emergency Management requires Ky rescue squads to be trained to specified levels of proficiency. This means you will need to take about 48 hours of technical rope rescue training over several weeks and when offered (multiple opportunities.)

No pay, lousy working conditions, ridiculous hours, tiresome training.

So, what's the incentive? Hard to describe the feeling you get after a grueling cliff rescue from knowing that you and your team were responsible for saving a person's life.

For those with a desire to "give something back" to their community – both Wolfe County and the rock climbing community – PM me for details.

Business meeting (open to visitors) of WCSART Tuesday(7/20) 7 PM at the Senior Citizens Center in Campton. Training next Saturday (7/24) 9 AM at the cliffs at Wolfe Lake near Campton in Kootenay highline rescues. Check it out and see if this activity is for you.
