I am planning a trip to the Gunk in July. How hot and humid does it get in July at the Gunk? Is it like the Red in July?

Miserably hot and humid in the sun, which is pretty much everywhere until 3pm. There are a few harder routes in the chasm at Lost City which are cool all day. Pretty good conditions from 3 until dark at all areas. Overall I think you're better off going to the Adirondacks, New Hampshire, or North Carolina for trad in July... or to the western US obviously.
The Red can be miserably hot too but there is more shade throughout the day.

We are climbing there just about every weekend. During hot spells, climb early, take a break around 1 or 2 and then start back up late afternoon and climb until dark. Last year, there were several weeks where it never got above the high 70s.
