Well it is October and the Russel Fork is filled bank to bank with boaters and many of my climbing friends are going down to paddle/swim that river. Next saturday Oct-19th i may make the journey down to this area to meet up with a few of them and do some climbing. if anyone is interested in climbing in this area let me know. the more the merrier (this area sees little climbing traffic at this point in time and has plenity of room for a medium crowd of climbers). this trip may not go if the weather is bad which it often is this time of year.

I've not heard of this place... where is it and what kind of climbing can be found there?

It's down around Elkhorn City, KY... Jenkins area. Take Mountain Parkway to US 23 South and you can't miss it. Just look for signs around Pikeville. I've never climbed there, but plan to this weekend if it doesn't rain. Friends say it's great and potential for new routes.

I'm actually from there and was told by a guy that there are some multi pitch bolted routes of decent quality down there.

Multipitch bolted climbs?? That actually sounds cool! How far down Mountain Parkway are you talking?

I can't believe I said that.. I used to cringe at the sight of bolts!

All the way down Mountain Parkway until it intersects with US 23 South. From there it's about 30 miles I guess.

I don't know how far Mountain Parkway goes past the Red (and am too lazy to pull up Mapquest). So how far does it go? This will help other people later when looking for this same info.. yeah, that's the justification for my laziness!

From Lexington it's about 160 miles to Elkhorn City.

Yeah, he said those routes were down there, but I cannot verify this one way or the other.
