this is a piece that i wrote for school... im kind of trying to get it submited into a climbing magazine:
In This Moment
By: Nathan Presley
My grip is solid but one slip will make all my hard work go to waste. My feet are planted but if they give way, I’m sure to tumble into an endless pit of disappointment. My mind is focused, but if I do not concentrate I will never taste the sweetness of success. I glance down towards the sixty foot drop, thinking of the horrible things that could happen if my rope gave way. My hands begin to sweat. I reach with one hand towards the back of my hip and shake up the chalk, which gives me a better grip on the worn hold. My graceful ascent is put on standby due to this slimy, insufficient, roadblock of a hold. The pain starts to seep deep within my fingers, forearms and legs. Let the mind games begin.
My thoughts become distracted. For a brief moment my goal is lost in the cries of my physical body. “My hands are slipping! My arms are tired! Why is it so hot?â€
