First time going to the red in April and just curious where a good place to set up camp would be. Most likely going to the Southern Region. Thanks!

Yep. 5 bucks a night and it has an excellent, and slightly older climbing crowd.

dont listen to them. camp in the woods. like, the daniel boone NF. get a backwoods weekend pass (cheaper), buy $5 of firewood from a local off the roadside, and do it right. shotgun a beer once the fire gets real nice and hot. pass out in the creek. repeat every weekend for 3 years.

Here is another camping option for you.
We are 5 mitutes from Muir Valley, 2 minutes from Torrent and Roadside and about 10 minutes from the Southern Region.
Same price as the other

camp by indian creek, forest service road 9. make friends with the other truck campers as they drink enough bud light to keep a sorority drunk for a year. wreck your car, beat your sister.

and there's a trout stream that you can jump in when drunk enough. pay no attention to the people passed out by the side of the road.

are there trout in Indian Creek?

You can camp in the S.R. for free. All you gotta do is follow fixer to the first creek. All the land around in there is National Forest. You can go up by "Turkey Foot" and camp or you can go across the creek and go in behind the "Salty Dog" spring you'll see it as a delapidated spring house. The camping is cool there and thats where I once saw some big cats. Get 300 feet off of the main drag through there as it can get busy on the weekends and you don't want a jeep jamboree driving through your camp at three a.m.

yeah, there are trout there. I think they stock browns once a year. the stocking list is on KY game and wildlife website.

it's overfished though unless you get there early in the season.
