Lodging on Bald Rock Road

Post by philz »

I posted earlier that a parking lot at the top of the hill would be under construction by the end of the month which is still on schedule. I would also like to ask the climbing community about lodging in the area. In the next few weeks there will be accomodations available which will include:
Sleep arrangements for eight comfortably, washer/dryer, fridge, cooking stove, 2 full baths, heat and central air and also outside grilling. The rental will be on a weekly basis and providing how this progresses there will be more lodging in the future. Also it will be within walking distance of the Motherlode.

Your Thoughts??

Where exactly will it be? How many cars will it fit? Will it be free or cost money? Who is it owned by?Paved or gravel? Who will be maintaining it? Is this in coordination with the RRGCC or the oil company or other private landowner? How was this negotiated with the oil company?

Just the basics. It sounds like there might suddenly be a solution to what many consider a long standing problem, so expect curiosity (and skepticism) to be peaked. Though, I'm sure you've already noticed that.

I bet that lodging you speak of is on the pricey side.

To my knowledge this is not in coordination with the RRGCC.

1.The parking lot will be just before the oil tanks at the top of the hill on the right side of the road. The lot will have an entrance as well as an exit one or the other at each end. Also with patroled security or security cameras as well as lighting.

2. As for how many cars it will accommodate we are looking at between 30 to 50 at this time.

3. There possibly will be a fee between $2 to $5 per car per 24 hour period or possibly weekly discounted rates.

4.The lot is owned by Philz.

5.The lot will be gravel to start and possibly paved in the future.

6.Philz will be maintaining the lot unless other arrangements are made.

7.This is not part of the RRGCC or the oil company.

8.Since the oil company does not own the land there was no need for any negotiations.

I expect curiosity (and skepticism). This is going to happen just not all at once.

The lodging is still in the planning stages. As for the rates it will be competitive to below. The rate will also depend on the number of people that will stay at one time with a maximum of 8.

I hope this answers some of your questions. Please feel free to ask or pm me with any and all ideas wants or needs that you might have.

Thanks,
Philz
